My Holy Grail Eyeliner | Beauty

When I first started out with make up, the one step I would never leave out is eyeliner.
Fast forward a few years and I haven't really changed - I feel like I don't ever leave the house when I'm not wearing eyeliner, it might have become my trademark.

My younger self, however, had no idea how this whole make up thing worked, and applying eyeliner confused her greatly. All the pictures that show me sporting panda eyes prove it. I cringe every time I see them.

I sometimes still struggle with doing a precise feline flick if I'm not using a eyeliner that makes its application easier for me - the only one that appeared to be doing that was my LR Colour's one, which recently dried out completely, so I was desperately trying to get my hands on a new eyeliner.

I read a few reviews on Maybelinne's "Lasting Drama 36h Gel Liner", which were mostly positive, so I decided to give it a go.

What I found especially interesting about this eyeliner was its applicator which is supposed to make applying the product a lot easier.

Before application, you have to twist the bottom of the gel liner to get the actual product to show up - it claims "only one click!" down there, but in reality I felt like it took me around twenty tries for the black liner to come up.

What I really love about this is the color pay-off. Once you have taken your fair share of time to get the actual product to show up, it and glides on very easily and goes on inky black, no pressure at all needed.
The only downside application wise is that after twisting up the liner once you've used some of it up, too much product might easily end up on your lid, making the application process really messy.

Maybelline claims that this gel liner can stay put for 36 hours without getting messy, which I haven't actually tried out as I always take off my make up at the end of the day (who doesn't?) but I wore this when I spent the entire day in Munich yesterday - I applied it at 7 in the morning and took it off at 9.30 in the evening, and the only part that had smudged a little was the wing - that's insanely good for over twelve hours of wear time on a really hot and humid day!

Overall, I'm really loving this, even though my clumsiness sometimes leads me to put a little too much off the product in my lid, which extends my make up routine by at least five minutes as this does take some time to get off.
This liner is an amazing product for people who rely on their make up to stay put for long periods of time as well as girls who are just starting out with eyeliner as it's fairly easy to apply.

What is your favorite eyeliner?

Spring Beauty Wishlist

It's spring, the season where love is supposed to blossom, but to be honest, the only thing that is actually blossoming is my beauty wishlist.

So naturally, being absolutely broke and completely frustrated, I decided to share my cravings with you guys as some form of therapy.

Do I own enough eyeshadow palettes? Probably. Do I still need this in my life? Hell yes.
I've been eyeing up several of Stila's eyeshadow palettes for a while now, but I've come to the conclusion that this one is exactly what my soul I need.
It contains both matte and shimmer shades and a lot of copper and brown tones, which I'm loving at the moment.
Might I add, the packaging of this absolutely gorgeous. It makes the product seem even more luxurious and is just such a pleasure to look at.

I have heard so, so many great things about Charlotte Tilbury's products, but sadly, they're still really hard to get hold of where I live.
Their matte revolution lipsticks, however, might be worth the extra effort (and money, sigh) I'll have to put into getting them, because let's be real, they're absolute swoon-worthy.
There are a few shades that I'm liking from this range, but when I bite the bullet and purchase a lipstick that's this pricy, I want a shade that I'll get the most possible wear out of - so "Very Victoria", a light brown toned nude, took my heart by storm.

Even though I always get sucked in by the Benefit counter everytime I'm shopping downtown, I actually don't own any of their products yet - because hey, most of them are over thirty Euros, and I'm a stressed out student.
However, the one product that I keep swatching everytime I'm there is their Watt's Up highlighter. I've been looking for a good quality highlighter for a while now and I just find the finish of this very nice, it appears to leave a healthy glow - something that I'm seriously lacking.

If you've read my review of Mac's "Twig" (which you can find here), you will know how much I adore Mac's lipsticks - especially the ones with a satin finish.
I spent a good thirty minutes swatching shades at the Mac counter last Saturday, noting down the ones I liked to do a little research, and "Brave" is the one that has won my heart.
I'm more a subtle lip kinda gal - reds scare the living shit out of me - so this beauty would nicely fit into my collection.
Besides, how wrong can you go with a Mac lipstick?

This one has been all over the blogosphere for the past two months, and really, I'm dying to try this. If I didn't have a few unused mascaras floating around in my drawer, I think I would've picked this up already.
I have insanely short lashes, and achieving a curl is next to impossible, so I would be really interested in seeing if this miracle product really does what it promises.

On top of dealing with those stubby eyelashes, I have the worst dark circles you could imagine. Think dark purple, insanely huge. There's nothing that covers those.
I've read a few good reviews on this product, and seeing that so far I've always gotten along with Rimmel's products really well, this would be worth and try and won't even break my bank balance.

I already own one of these in the shade "Pink So Chic", a darker plum color, which I reviewed on here, so I know that I'm probably going to like this one as well.
As I mentioned above, nude lips are my thing at the moment, and I've heard a few people call this their perfect nude, so I've got high hopes.

I feel like everyone and their mother owns this shade, and I know, I know, I actually own multiple mint-ish shades, but this one is just so pretty to pass up.
I don't own a single nailpolish by Essie yet - shocking, I know - and I feel like maybe I should change that this spring.

I have been lusting after this perfume for over a year now, and if it wasn't so damn expensive, I would probably bathe in this.
I love this scent. It's light, but not so light that you could miss it, and it's floral, which is a huge change for someone like me who's usually more into sweet scents.
I feel like this is something I should mention in a few conversations with my parents, wink wink.

These are actually only a few of the many products that fill my ever extending wish list, and I'll make sure to keep you guys updated on whether or not I'll actually treat myself to one of them!

Thank you so much for reading!

All Used Up | Empties #1

I will admit it, I'm the absolute worst at using up products. I will purchase something, use it constantly for a certain amount of time, only to fall for something else after a while and completely forget it.

Seeing as my beauty and skin care products were literally pilling up in my drawers, I decided to set an end to purchasing new. fairly unnecessary stuff and finally get around to using up everything else.

I kept all my empties in an unused make up bag so once I had built a little collection, I could share it with you guys!

Avon Care Revitalising Moisture Hand Cream in Cocoa Butter (5€)

I've got extremely dry hands and finding a hand cream that leaves my hands feeling moisturized for longer than ten minutes is anything but easy.
These work wonders on my hands, though!
As you apply this hand cream, it gives off a strong, but not too sweat scent of cocoa, which equals heaven to me.
It leaves my hands moisturized for more than an hour, which is more than I could've ever asked for.

Would I repurchase?
I already have! I'm on my third tube of these already, and it'll take a miracle hand cream to stop me from using them.

Maybelline Colossal Go Extreme! Mascara (9,99€)

This was one of there first mascaras that I totally fell in love with - my fierce love for it shows at how much the writing on this has rubbed off. It looks absolutely ancient, but I swear it's not.
It lenghtend my lashes and added a lot of volume to them, and I experienced next to no fallout with it, even though I didn't own the waterproof version.

Would I repurchase?
As much as I enjoyed my love affair with this gem, I have at least five other mascaras hiding in my drawers, waiting to be used - and I really don't want those to dry out or go bad (yuck).
Maybe, one day, if ever get around finishing those.

Eucerin AtopiControl Face Care Cream (19,25€)

Originally developed for patients diagnosed with atopic eczema, this cream is perfect for dry and irritated skin, it strenghtens the skin structure and restores its barrier function.
I have combination skin, which means that up to now, skincare has always confused me a little.
Now that the winter months have left my skin dry and damaged and pollen are taking their turn on tormenting me, this has been my absolute savior.
I use this as a day creme and it keeps my skin hydrated throughout the entire day.

Would I repurchase?
I have been using this for the past two year, so as soon as I noticed that I was soon to run out of it, I immediately went and stocked up on it.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss (2,45€)

This was the first product of the Baby Lips range I owned, and it lasted me a damn long time.
This has been my go-to lip balm, I never went anywhere without it as it kept my lips moisturized and soft for far over an hour.
'Peach Kiss' is one of the Baby Lips that gives of a stain, this one in particular is extremely light so it's almost unnoticeable - which is great if you're going for a natural look or you're not allowed to wear make up at school!

Would I repurchase?
Not in the near future, I own two more of the Baby Lips, one of the original range and one of the electro one, and as I mentioned, these last absolute ages, so I'm not gonna need a new lip balm for a while.

Nivea Anti-Transpirant Satin Sensation Deodorant (2,50€)

Deodorant! I know, how exciting! But believe it or not, nearly all of us use it, so I might as well share this one with you lot because it's actually pretty neat.
To be honest, I've got no clue where I picked this travel sized version up, but it got me hooked instantly!
This deodorant leaves your skin with a slightly satiny feeling, doesn't show up on clothing - thank god, nothing more embarassing than that - while also giving off a light, refreshing scent. It's all things I look for in a deodorant in a bottle.

Would I repurchase?
I did acutally purchase the original size of this and I'm about to run out. Ooops.
I might purchase another one of these, but I like switching up my deodorants from time to time so we'll see about that.

Looking at this now, I feel really good about using all of those products up - I literally sound like a shopaholic in therapy.
I will definitelly continue collecting all my empties so I can keep you updated on how this little "experiment" of mine goes!

Thank you so much for reading!

February Favorites 2015

Hi everyone!

How is it March already?
Looking back at it now, the past month has been really stressful for me - exams, projects, and above all, moving out - but also pretty eventful - in a more than good way.

Let's have a look at what products I've been loving during February!

Urban Decay Naked Pallete (47.99€)

This has by far been my favorite product I've used last month.
If you've read my "What I got for my Sweet Sixteen" post, you might have seen that my friends got me all three of Urban Decay's Naked palletes.
This one particularly stood out to me.
It basically has all the shades you would ever need - there are pink toned shades. browns, golds, even a blue as well as a black shade - what more are you looking for in a pallete?
The staying power of these is insane, especially when used over one of Urban Decay's eyeshadow primers.
The Naked pallete has made it into my every day make up, and it seems like it isn't going to leave any time soon.

Avon Calming Effects Liquid Concealer (8,50€)

Finding a concealer (or foundation) that suits my extremely pale skin is really hard.
Even though this concealer is only available in two different shades - Fair, which I own; and Medium - it goes suprisingly well with my skin.
This gives medium coverage, it works wonders on my red spots and blemishes, and it pretty much stays there all day without budging or looking cakey.
Sadly, it doesn't really work on my dark circles - but it's still a product that has saved me during bad breakouts.

Givenchy Le Vernis nailpolish in "Rose Taffetas" (22,99€)

This, alongside the Naked palletes, was my friend's gift for my birthday.
Rose Taffetas is a gorgeous shiny dark pink.
I wore this nailpolish for an entire week and it only chipped a tiny bit on one of my nails, so this polish is actually worth it's rather hefty price tag.

Avon Extra Lasting lipstick in "Cappuccino" (7,99€)

For me, this is the perfect nude.
"Cappuccino" is a medium dark, creamy finish brown which seems to work great for me and doesn't wash me out.
I've been wearing this at least two or three days a week, which is one heck of a lot for someone who owns a good 30 lipsticks and tries to wear as many of them as possible.

Maybelline Great Lash mascara in "the blackest black" (7,99€)

I'm not going to go to in depth about this as I have a blog post on it here.
This a more lenghtening mascara which makes your lashes look really black and adds a bit of volume to them, and I've actually grown to love this product even more after I wrote my post on it.

Avon Parisian Chic Pocket Perfume (12€)

Now, I'm pretty concerned that it's not actually called "pocket perfume", but that's what I like to call it anyway because it's the perfect size for an on-the-go perfume.
This dosen't really fit into my collection of sweet scents.
It definitely has something sweet to it, it does smell of raspberries, but it also has some floral bits like the smell of roses, and a wodden smell of sandalwood - and even though this might sound strange, mixed together create the most fascinating scent ever.
If you ever come across this beaut, definitely give it a sniff!

So these were all the products that made my February a lot sweeter - there were some others which I wasn't sure whether I should include or not, stuff like books or general bits and bobs.

Tell me in the comments if you think those should make it into my March favorites!

Thank you so much for reading!

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

This post was supposed to go up on Friday. Oops, I know.
But as I've been feeling pretty ill over the last week, I took some time off from my blog, or the internet in general - I'm feeling a bit better now, though, so I'm back in time for my Sunday post!

Nevertheless, I picked up quite a few Maybelline products over the past few weeks, including their Great Lash mascara in 'The Blackest Black' , which was 4€ - let's be real, it was the bargain price tag on this one that caught my eye.

I've heard some people rave about using this gem on their lower lashes, so I decided to give it a go.

Now, I'm generally a fan of Maybelline mascaras, I've been using the Colossal Go Extreme for more than a year on and off.

This one I was more sceptical about - what put me off it at first was its wand.

I usually don't mind using plastic wands, but I found this one to be rather small - most of the time it was quite difficult to grab all of my lashes with it.

Despite that, the results were actually pretty neat. As you can tell by my left I, I naturally have very short lashes. Within two coats, the Great lash mascara doubled their lenght and made them look darker, adding a tiny bit of a curl to them.
It didn't make my lashes get clumpy, which also is a plus.

Throughout the day, the mascara didn't smudge at all.
I wore it while working out and when I was out and about on a rainy day, and it stayed in place, perfectly.

Verdict:

If you are looking for intense volume, this might probably not be the mascara for you.
But if you, like me, want to add some lenght and a slight curl to your lashes, I would definitely give this one a go - especially because its staying power is insane.

What is your favorite brand for mascaras?
